Wheel bearing on a 1999 pontiac grandam se?

I have a 1999 Pontiac Grand AM SE and my front left wheel bearing is bad. As soon as i knew it was bad i stopped driving it. I talked to my local advanced auto parts store and they said i need to change the whole hub assembly on it which is a $80 part but i can also just buy the national taper bearing assembly for only $15 but there saying i have to replace the whole hub? can i save money and just replace the taper assembly and it be fine?
